Why do I like charcoal as medium?
I love working with charcoal for its versatility—layers can be built like acrylic, yet its marks can be shifted, blended, and reshaped at any moment. It allows me to play with form and light, capturing fleeting expressions and textures. Because of its properties, I think of charcoal more as painting than drawing, which is why I prefer the term ‘charcoal painting’.
