The Focus
This charcoal painting captures a moment of focused motion: a wolf moving around a hill, its gaze fixed on something beyond the frame. The forward momentum of the body contrasts with the precision of its attention, creating a sense of quiet tension. For this piece, I experimented with charcoal on coarse watercolor paper and worked with liquid charcoal for the first time—a combination that introduced unexpected texture, depth, and expressive variation to the final outcome.
