This charcoal portrait captures a lion in a moment of proud, majestic stillness, its gaze steady and commanding. For this piece, I worked on fine-grained Clairfontaine paper for the first time, allowing for subtle tonal transitions and refined detail, while also revealing the natural limits of layering when working with charcoal.
